Automotive trade deficit more than doubles

You might want to cover one eye before reading this;

Manufacturing takes steepest tumble on record, investment flows slosh homeward

"Meanwhile, the Canadian Auto Workers said 2008 was Canada's worst-ever year in trade of automotive products.

The union's analysis of Statistics Canada data found the automotive trade deficit more than doubled to almost $14 billion, from $6.6 billion in 2007."

  1. A first-class example of what happens when men speak without thinking first.

On the other hand, most men don't even think at all . . .

The husband had just finished reading a new book entitled,

'YOU CAN BE THE MAN OF YOUR HOUSE'.

He stormed to his wife in the kitchen and announced,

'From now on, you need to know that I am the man of this house and my word is Law. You will prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, you will serve me a sumptuous dessert.

'After dinner, you are going to go upstairs with me and we will have the kind of sex that I want. Afterward, you are going to draw me a bath so I can relax.

'You will wash my back and towel me dry and bring me my robe. Then, you will massage my feet and hands.

'Tomorrow, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?'

    The wife replied,

'The f*)&(%#n' funeral director would be my first guess.'

Nice post, Comrade One. I just read the link after I had written my daily contribution, so what is being read now is an addendum; it also flows -- somewhat -- with the other stuff I had pre-written. So . . .

Interesting that on Garth's blog today, there was part of a sentence that stood out for me -- ". . . the current situation, which will get worse, lie within us. Rarely satisfied with what we need, and consumed with what we want, we fail to self-govern."

The way I see it, if the vast majority of sheeple are not prepared to exercise some form of self-discipline -- liking what one already has, and thus buying only what is necessary -- then this planet deserves to be in the mess it's in.

I used to play lotteries for fun, but only because I knew there was another paycheque coming in. If I had all bills covered, some put away in savings, then whatever was left over was 'fun' money.

I have no sympathy for those who expect others to bail them from cockups of their own making.

BTW, I sometimes speak of The Cycle Of Nines -- 1929 - 2009; Sandy and I were married on Saturday, Dec. 29, 1979, etc. Supposedly, this or next year, the US will declare bankruptcy.

46 US states are broke or almost broke, Israel, Ireland and other European countries are now all but wiped out financially so -- what do countries do to distract sheeple's attention?

Invent and create wars, which are next. Ohhhh, life used to be so sweet!

As a Cdn. I understand the vast majority of us are quiet and reserved. However, to reduce one's ownership of foreign securities and lock them into one market -- North America -- doesn't make for smart investing.

Even in a recession / depression, swim against the tide. There will always be very good, long-term mutual funds from different parts of the world. A worldwide portfolio of of bonds, stocks and the like are far more effective over the long term - twenty years or more. -- http://tinyurl.com/b2oqgt

  2. Notice the comments from wrh.com following. The Mossad's motto is "By way of deception, thou shalt do war."

Also, Israel is pretty much broke, so why not have another war? Iraq worked well! -- http://tinyurl.com/c8tqyx

"War with Iran will mean war with Russia.

"That may be Israel's ultimate plan; to trick the US and Russia into a mutually destructive war which would leave Israel, with its hundreds of nuclear weapons, in control of the middle east and via the oil, most of the rest of the world."

So Israel is now is about to make preparations against Iran. -- http://tinyurl.com/dnfyxo

Earlier, I mentioned Uncle Sam was broke, simply using the msm for it's tomfoolery to keep sheeple's attention focused elsewhere. This is one perspective. -- http://tinyurl.com/afhp72

  3. Hi Charles, many older people recognize the over spending for what it is. Unfortunately, not enough. Soon many more will whether they inform themselves or economics does it for them.

There is a show on CNBC right now called House of Cards. It's about the sub prime scams and now they are dealing with the Madoff scheme. I'm not watching anymore of it because it is making me very cranky. I know enough about it and much more is overload. One of the things that was pointed out though was how many of those affected by the sub prime scams were willing participants and also how many were engaging in extravagances. Pools, high cost reno's, and speculating on their own homes looking to refinance quick gains in order to continue a variety of grand plans.

Greenspan was interviewed at length as well, and he was justifying his performance as thought out and necessary. He also claimed that he didn't know the magnitude of the sub prime and once he had some idea, he couldn't have done anything significant. I guess it never occurred to him to wonder why a town house in an unspectacular new subdivison would appreciate $100,000 in a year.

  4. Interesting piece on what's going on in California and Kansas Charles. Talk about playing with political time bombs. I wonder if the macho men have yet to fully understand the ramifications of being late paying State payroll? Then there's not processing income tax refunds.Wow! And they thought Katrina was bad.Much finger wagging and blame game to come methinks.

  5. Charles,

this one's for you. Before we groan about the economy, from a litany of political drunks:

George Brown: The former Foreign Secretary set the standard for drunken gaffes during a trip to Peru. Rumour has it that his attempt to ask a figure in purple to dance met with the following:

No, First you are drunk. Second, this is not a waltz. It is the Peruvian national anthem. And third, I am not a woman. I am the Cardinal Archbishop of Lima.
