Contemplation

"Marcus Aurelius: There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."

"
Gracchus: But the Senate IS the people, sire. Chosen from AMONG the people. To speak FOR the people.
Commodus: I doubt if any of the people eat so well as you, Gracchus. Or have such splendid mistresses, Gaius."

"
Proximo: So Spaniard, we shall go to Rome together and have bloody adventures. And the great whore will suckle us until we are fat and happy and can suckle no more. And then, when enough men have died, perhaps you will have your freedom."

"Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the empire, Sire.
Marcus Aurelius: Ah yes. Ah yes. I remember now
."

"Quintus: People should know when they are conquered.
Maximus Decimus Meridius: Would you, Quintus? Would I?"

  2. "What's left but to charge the Cannon?"

My feeling is the government is collapsing so they have gone on a wild spending spree to save itself.

Why else have they been pretending not to know how bad economic conditions are when we`ve been blogging about how it will get since the 0 down 40 year mortgage came out.

Tax payers gave the banks $75b, banks are claiming a small profit but didn`t take into account the cost of making that small profit, $75b. In fact if they spent $75b and made $1b it would be a material loss of $74b. Small wonder most folks quit paying attention to what government is doing or consider what they are doing as too negative to pay attention to.

I see fear in every federal politicians eyes every time they stand in front of us, they know they are only fooling the people that want to be fooled, buying time before the next shoe falls. A lack of details in the much touted economic recovery plan makes it plain, it`s not a recovery plan, it is a salvage plan.

Never forget it was our own government that leaves us no choice but to charge the cannon as it was our federal government that turned the cannon on us.

The treachery of government seems to have no bounds, they could have given us a plan, or even just the truth, but choose to give us grapeshot.

  3. Fodder, heh.. I know what that feels like.

Treachery abounds, and is what makes it so difficult to find some clarity.

About the fear, I had an odd sense of that while listening to the great minds yesterday. Except Bernanke. That's a cold fish.

There are great games afoot, and someone has pulled the rug.
