Just another John

Bet you thought I was going to write about pros-t-toots er sumthin'. Well I'm not. I'm just going to offer a quote for the day. Some guy named John wrote this over at yahoo, and I thought it worth repeating.

"The money powers prey upon the nation in times of peace and conspire against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than a monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. It denounces as public enemies all who question its methods or throw light upon its crimes. Corporations have been enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people "

Hallelujah Brother, and pass the pitch forks!

Don't worry, I didn't suddenly get 'ligion, but I did hang around the mother of all right tard sites for a bit last night just to see what propaganda they are spewing lately. Well surprise surprise! They were making a lame attempt at defending the AIG execs who live in a wealthy area of Conneticut. This segment of the downtrodden masses have been voicing their concerns for their personal safety lately, in the wake of claims of death threats etc. So says they. So in swoops the dead animal leader and throws a big shiny lure into the water and takes attention off the real issues and onto some great satan like entity called Acorn and of course Obama. It's all his fault you know.

Upon hearing the splash, and then seeing the shiny lure, the trout immediately assembled to give pursuit. Gawd have mercy.

I suppose it is more difficult to see properly when one is looking up through water as it would obscure things a bit, but I wish these fishies would come up for air more often and see the world as it really is. So jump little fishies. Jump for your life! While there still is clean air and sunshine to be had to help clear your little fish sized brains.

The full quote from which the excerpt above was taken, is below.

"The money powers prey upon the nation in times of peace and conspire against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than a monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, and more selfish than bureaucracy. It denounces as public enemies, all who question it's methods or throw light upon it's crimes. I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the Bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe.. corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money powers of the country will endeavor to prolong it's reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few, and the Republic is destroyed. The reading might drive some of you bonkers.

I believe in morality and having strong beliefs, I don't want them pushed down my throat in the name of capitalism. Seems like nothing is untouchable to the moneychangers.

  2. Animals have a sixth sense, and use it. Humans have common sense, almost none of which is ever used, so animals are a lot smarter, kinder and gentler than humans . . .

In 2003, police in Warwickshire, England opened a garden shed and found a whimpering, cowering dog. It had been locked in the shed and abandoned. It was dirty and malnourished, and had clearly been abused.

In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need.

Geoff and the other sanctuary staff went to work with two aims: to restore the dog to full health, and to win her trust. It took several weeks, but eventually both goals were achieved.

They named her Jasmine, and they started to think about finding her an adoptive home but Jasmine had other ideas.

No one remembers now how it began, but Jasmine started welcoming all animal arrivals at the sanctuary. It wouldn't matter if it was a puppy, a fox cub, a rabbit or, probably, a rhinoceros, Jasmine would peer into the box or cage and, where possible, deliver a welcoming lick.

Geoff relates one of the early incidents. "We had two puppies that had been abandoned by a nearby railway line. One was a Lakeland Terrier cross and another was a Jack Russell Doberman cross. They were tiny when they arrived at the centre and Jasmine approached them and grabbed one by the scruff of the neck in her mouth and put him on the settee. Then she fetched the other one and sat down with them, cuddling them."

"But she is like that with all of our animals, even the rabbits. She takes all the stress out of them and it helps them to not only feel close to her but to settle into their new surroundings. "She has done the same with the fox and badger cubs, she licks the rabbits and guinea pigs and even lets the birds perch on the bridge of her nose."

Jasmine, the timid, abused, deserted waif, became the animal sanctuary's resident surrogate mother, a role for which she might have been born. The list of orphaned and abandoned youngsters she has cared for comprises five fox cubs, four badger cubs, 15 chicks, eight guinea pigs, two stray puppies and 15 rabbits.

And one roe deer fawn. Tiny Bramble, 11 weeks old, was found semi-conscious in a field. Upon arrival at the sanctuary, Jasmine cuddled up to her to keep her warm, and then went into the full foster mum role. Jasmine the greyhound showers Bramble the roe deer with affection and makes sure nothing is matted in her fur.

"They are inseparable," says Geoff. "Bramble walks between her legs and they keep kissing each other. They walk together round the sanctuary. It's a real treat to see them."

Jasmine will continue to care for Bramble until she is old enough to be returned to woodland life. When that happens, Jasmine will not be lonely. She will be too busy showering love and affection on the next orphan or victim of abuse.

Remarkably cool for this time of year. Everything is in a constant state of flux, change is one of the constants here. David Crane has an excellent column today -- "Now's not time to be complacent".

It goes with the links further down. Seems like we're screwed for the next umpteen years! Anyway, just so y'all know how bailed-out corporations use taxpayers' money -- http://tinyurl.com/d8zy2s

This from The Daily Reckoning: Get Set for a 15-Year Depression
    By Bill Bonner, London, England

"Our old friend Congressman Ron Paul says we're headed into a 15-year depression.

"He's probably right. In the old days, "panics" and "depressions" ended fairly quickly...at least unemployment tended to be short-term. There were no elaborate social welfare systems then. No unemployment compensation. No food stamps or "independence" cards. People had to make do.

"So, when a depression hit, wages fell quickly and people got back to work. They earned less, but the whole economy would adjust, with lower prices for everything.

"There were no bailouts and no stimulus plans, either. Mistakes were corrected relatively quickly. Businesses went broke. Men were "ruined" and had to drink themselves to death.

"Now, things are better. If their businesses go broke, they can go on almost as if nothing had happened... as long as they owe money to the right people. Heck, they might even get a bonus.

"On Friday, the Dow dropped 122 points. What happened to the rally? Is it over already? We wait to find out.

"Oil held steady at the end of the week, having risen over $50 to a high for the year. Oil's rise was entirely explained by the sinking dollar - down to $1.35 per euro on Friday.

"Dollar sell-off gathers momentum," explained one headline. "Gold soars," Bloomberg added.

"Gold shot up nearly $70 an ounce on Thursday. It took a rest on Friday...but we don't think it will take a break from its epic run for long. Take advantage of this pause in the gold price and buy some now."

Pass my pitchfork full o'muneee, C.One -- I'm spending my way out with bailout moolah!

". . . the economy will never recover.

"In a perfect world, the stock market would decline another 70 or 80 percent along with the shuttering of about that fraction of our nation’s banks.
