Olmert Says He Made Rice Change Vote

I said, ‘Get me President Bush on the phone,’ ” Mr. Olmert said in a speech in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, according to The Associated Press. “They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn’t care: ‘I need to talk to him now,’ ” Mr. Olmert continued. “He got off the podium and spoke to me.

I found this to be interesting and it raised some questions, beginning with, what was he thinking? Was his intent to elevate his political stature within his own country and community or was he being a tad spiteful? Or other? Certainly speaking out as he did, makes one wonder.

  1. I noticed a few slips of 'news' coming from the U.S. lately. This whole "Israel is not running the White House" theme makes me highly suspicious of a pawn being readied for a move. The other news items were about the disagreement between the state department and White House about the Palestinian massacre, the arrest/sentencing of someone who was spying on the U.S. and the request of Israel to use Iraqi air space so they could bomb Iran nuclear facility. I thought the articles were 'strange' given the times?

I always thought it was Wall Street running the White House? Perhaps it's the whole Madoff thing? I read a discussion about whether Madoff could be excommunicated for doing what he did to 'Jewish' account holders. Nothing was mentioned about the others who lost a lot of money.

I have your blog bookmarked. I have to set up a google account so it won't have to come up as anonymous.

Hope the others come by for a visit and chat.

  2. Hi Dee. This was a very strange thing for Olmert to do given present circumstances. There has been a goodly amount of people who talk about who influences US policy, and for him to wade into this as he did, could only serve to galvanize anti Israel sentiment internationally. Maybe his bloviating wins him some points on the home front.

  3. Well, we know where the thumper stands. He's an embarrassment.

How could any government support the slaughter of innocent civilians? Oops, sorry ours just did. Can't wait for good riddance to bad rubbish.

Think Harper is setting up to do something to the First Nations, like ignoring treaties??
